My name is Samantha Klus and I am an eighteen year old triathlete aspiring to one day qualify for the Olympic Games. It__s a lofty goal I know, but I am determined. How on earth did I get into this crazy sport? At age 12, my competitive soccer coach saw an ad for a local triathlon and told me I should give it a tri! (Pun intended) So there I was__ back/breast stroking the swim in order to hop on my mountain bike and later finish the race walking across the finish line__not to mention coming in dead last. I don__t know how it happened, but I got hooked. Yes, I caught triathlon fever and dropped soccer 2 years later to focus solely on triathlon.Being a future Ottawa University student as well as a member of the Bytown Storm Triathlon Team means my days are jam-packed and often times very stressful. I train many hours a week; waking up long before the sun and staying up until after it sets. Why triathlons you ask..? Well, I love running and biking and I__ve been swimming ever since I was a wee baby so it was almost natural that I combine these three sports to compete in triathlons!
